I Am Forgiven

I, I am He who blocks out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.

Isaiah 43:25

You are forgiven. If you have accepted the free gift of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, then you are a child of God, and you have already been forgiven. You are not a stone in the mud that has to be re-washed over and over again. No, you are a stone under the waterfall of God’s amazing grace, constantly being cleansed.

Sin is still a problem in the life of a child of God. The more you know and love Him, the less you will want to sin, but even then, your human imperfections will still show themselves from time to time. When it happens and when you feel the Holy Spirit’s conviction, immediately repent. Wholeheartedly confess it to God and commit to turning from your sin. Put boundaries in place so you will not return to it next time. Seek true accountability if your sin is habitual and tough to break.

And when you have done all that, receive His forgiveness again.

He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

Psalm 103:12

When your sin has returned and you have confessed and repented, and confessed and repented, and confessed and repented again, you can be sure that the voice of guilt will do its best to speak over your life… and guilt never comes alone. Your failures and mistakes will often come with a heap of condemnation that rests on your chest like a heavy weight, with grief and shame pressing down upon your heart and mind. Even with true repentance, the heaviness will try to remain… but cast it off, in Jesus name!

When you have been honest with the Lord and repented to Him from your heart, even when it’s the fifth time or the twenty-fifth time, the three bedfellows of condemnation, guilt, and shame have no right to dwell with you any longer. The Lord has truly cleansed you. He really has forgotten all your sin for His own sake. Our merit doesn’t matter when His forgiveness is complete.

Accept His forgiveness and let the undeserved kindness of His Grace break your heart in pieces. Condemnation can have no hold on one who has been rendered speechless and utterly destroyed [humbled] by the Father’s unwarranted mercy. Mercy because of Christ. Grace for His own sake.

This is the power that overcomes sin.

But as for me, I will look to the Lord;
    I will wait for the God of my salvation;
    my God will hear me.

Rejoice not over me, O my enemy;
    when I fall, I shall rise;
when I sit in darkness,
    the Lord will be a light to me.

I will bear the indignation of the Lord
    because I have sinned against him,
until He pleads my cause
    and executes judgment for me.

He will bring me out to the light;
    I shall look upon his vindication.

Micah 7:8-9 ESV

We all have sinned and continually fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). There’s no way around it. It’s the human condition. But while we were still sinners, Christ died for us so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God, once and for all (Romans 5:8,10).

Just like the Micah verses above say, He pleads our cause for us. When we fall, we shall rise. In fact, Proverbs 24:16 says, “When a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again…” If you are in Christ, then you are God’s own righteousness. It is inevitable that you will rise again if you trust in Him to save you from all your sin.

Say it with me today, beloved… “I Am Forgiven.” Let that truth wash over you, and let it lift away your heavy burdens and bring a newfound JOY to the surface of your everyday life! You are more precious to Him than you can imagine. He loves you and He is always, always helping you.

He will never leave you or forsake you, in Jesus’ name.
