Lead with Love

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  Colossians 3:14

Good morning, friends. Let’s talk about leading with love…

Throughout my life, I have at times led with selfishness, pride, arrogance, and control. But I desire to lead with love. This is what the Lord has shown me:

  • Accept people for who they are and love them there. We are all human. We are all in process. What we see on the surface is not all there is! Look for the heart… even if you have to take a flashlight and dig a little. Keep looking. It’s in there.
  • Once you find it, you’ll know it was worth the trouble.
  • We all have weaknesses, we all have imperfections. We can let our common negatives cancel each other out. It is only then that our positives will shine through.
  • Look for the best in people, even if it is deeply hidden. Look for the gold and focus on that! What is best in a person, the gifts of God planted in them, will shine brightly once they are found.
  • What do we have in common?? How can we agree to agree? Let’s make these the places where we can stand together.

Lead with love.

Find ways to serve. Paul said he became all things to all people so they could know the love of Christ (1 Corinthians 9:19-23). If we are willing, we are able to do the same. Find the need, seek out what may have been missing and, through Christ, let your life fill in the gaps. WE are not the answer they are looking for. It is only Christ in us and through us that will make a difference.

While fresh new connections need gentleness to survive, deeper relationships can serve for accountability, real growth, purpose, and change. Seek out these deeper connections where they may be found. Open yourself up. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. These are the lifetime connections. This is the marrow… life to its fullest potential. Don’t miss out on this! It all starts with love…

Love lets the walls come down.

A life with Jesus leads to loving people the way He loves them. Our mercy and grace begin to look a lot more like His. We can have a sweetness in our hearts toward humanity that was never there before. We can begin asking the Lord for His help in this today. He is faithful to answer.

We have been forgiven much. We have been loved much. If we are willing, we are able to do this for others, as well. It is the willing and obedient who will lead with love and inherit the depth of connection.

Remember to put yourself aside. Remember to look for the gold.

Remember to lead with love.

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
